PERSONAL
- Mother of 5 Kennewick School District students
- Business Owner
- Community Volunteer
I am thrilled at the prospect of serving on the Kennewick School Board. With five children attending high school, middle school, and elementary, our family is well acquainted with KSD. We have always had wonderful and inspiring teachers and competent and caring administrators and support staff. We love Kennewick Schools!
As a future school director, I am most excited about the prospect of visiting with teachers, administrators, and most importantly, parents about their experiences with KSD. I promise to listen first. I promise that your concerns will inform my decision making.
EXPERIENCE
- Sub-Committee Chair, B5 Capital Campaign Committee, 2022 – Present
- Community Representative, KSD’s Community Engagement Board, 2021 – 2023
- Secretary, Young Women’s Board, 2018 – 2023
- Board Member, Tri City Youth Choir, 2012 – 2015
I have always had a heart for volunteering. In fact, I can’t think of any period of time since I started high school that I haven’t been a volunteer. I have a particular interest in working with migrant and refugee communities. I always start out on the program side of things – teaching classes, serving meals, etc., but it doesn’t take long before I’m asked to help out with operations – I just have a mind for developing systems, evaluating cost versus benefit, and analyzing data. I’m also an easy listener and a natural collaborator. I love being part of a hardworking team!
I have served on four community boards here in the Tri-Cities. I spent three years with Tri-City Youth Choir (TCYC), two with Kennewick School District’s Community Engagement Board, nearly five with my church’s Young Women’s Board, and am currently on the Capital Campaign Board for B5 Learning Center.
In these positions I have had to weigh all options and make difficult decisions regarding budget, employment, programs and partnerships – all skills I will use as a School Director for Kennewick School District.
EDUCATION
- Master of Public Administration, Non-Profit Management, Brigham Young University,2005
- Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Spanish, Brigham Young University, 2002
My master’s program gave me formal training in developing policy and procedure as well as communication, marketing and in understanding budgets, finance, and human resources. I have kept these skills current through my volunteer work on several community boards and am looking forward to utilizing these skills as a school director. I understand that as a school director it will be my responsibility to set the bar high. I look forward to ensuring that Kennewick School District meets that standard.
